Duties & Responsibilities
(NOTE: ** denotes Essential Functions)

** Conduct direct and indirect assessment of the General Education (Gen Ed) program by designing, organizing, and implementing projects to collect, analyze and interpret assessment data, consulting and/or collaborating with offices/committees as appropriate or assigned by the General Education Office (GEO) Director.
** Write assessment reports and give presentations as assigned by the GEO Director. Make recommendations and implementation plans for program changes based on assessment data and results.
** Use assessment results to develop pedagogical and student learning support, including online resources and teaching workshops, consulting and/or collaborating with offices and faculty committees as appropriate or assigned.
** Assist the GEO Director and General Education Committee (GEC) in the program review process for General Education.
** Provide administrative support to various Gen Ed Boards/Committees, and serve as GEO liaison to other committees and offices as assigned.
** Work with other GEO staff and the Gen Ed Boards to review and process transfer credit evaluations and course action requests.
** Serve as a GEO point of contact for inquiries about Gen Ed designations, articulation, assessment, and course actions.
** Assist in the implementation of decisions regarding General Education policy/procedures in collaboration with the GEO Director and other GEO staff.
Maintain active engagement with regional and national organizations focused on assessment in higher education, and keep current on best practices.
Work collaboratively with other GEO staff, the UH community, and relevant outside agencies to further Gen Ed goals and mission.
Along with other GEO staff, assist the GEO Director in updating the Gen Ed Handbook annually and maintaining/updating the Gen Ed website as needed.

Basic Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of a baccalaureate degree, preferably in Social or Natural Sciences, or Education, and at least 3 years of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for the support of academic and co-curricular programs; or equivalent education/training or experience.
Considerable working knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the support of academic and co-curricular programs as demonstrated by the broad knowledge of the full range of pertinent standard and evolving concepts, principles and methodologies.
Considerable working knowledge and understanding of applicable federal and state laws, rules, regulations and theories and systems associated with student services and office procedures in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to resolve wide ranging complex problems through the use of creative reasoning and logic to accurately determine the cause of the problems and the resolution of the problems in an effective, innovative and timely manner.
Demonstrated ability to interpret and present information and ideas clearly and accurately in writing, verbally and by preparation of reports and other materials.
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team leaders and members, and individuals.
Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer and use a range of office software.
For supervisory work, demonstrated ability to lead subordinates, manage work priorities and projects, and manage employee relations.
Any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.

Desirable Qualifications

Knowledge of or experience conducting assessment of student learning in academic programs.
Demonstrated experience designing and supporting equitable and culturally-responsive assessment and pedagogy to promote diversity and inclusiveness.
Experience with a variety of assessment strategies, techniques, methods and instruments, preferably in an academic environment.
Experience providing pedagogical and administrative support to faculty.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse individuals and groups that have differing levels of knowledge and skills and varying roles and responsibilities.
Possession of a Master’s degree in Social or Natural Sciences, or Education.
