Job Description :
Northern Hospitality Group (NHG) is the parent company to restaurants, hotels, venues, and breweries in Alaska. NHG is locally owned and operated. The HR Specialist responsibilities include working closely with the HR Director to prepare compensation and benefits packages, administering, and upholding company policies and maintaining employee records. To be successful in this role, you should have a good understanding of full cycle recruiting and a passion for working with people in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Ultimately, you will foster a healthy workplace by ensuring our HR procedures always run smoothly.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

In partnership with the HR Director and General Managers, review compensation and benefits packages.
Support health and life insurance program administration.
Implement training and development plans; facilitate new employee orientations.
Plan quarterly and annual performance review sessions
Update employee records with new hire information and/or changes in employment status, including creation of employee IDs and logins.
Maintain organizational charts and detailed job descriptions along with salary records
Support recruitment and hiring functions including interviewing and onboarding.
Support managers in the administration of HR policies throughout the organization
Process employees’ queries and respond in a timely manner
Process employee wage audits and unemployment insurance claim information.

Preferred qualifications and experience:

Proven work experience as an HR Specialist or HR Generalist
Hands-on experience with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS), like ADP Workforce Now
Knowledge of Applicant Tracking Systems
Solid understanding of labor policies and payroll process
Familiarity with full cycle recruiting
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Good problem-solving abilities
Team management skills
Degree in Human Resources or Human Resources certification preferred.
