Golden Valley Electric Association (GVEA) is looking to hire a full-time Line Superintendent as part of the Operations Team located in Fairbanks, AK. GVEA is an electric cooperative which maintains 3,261 miles of transmission and distribution lines, 35 substations, and 9 generating facilities. Our system is interconnected with Fort Wainwright, Eielson AFB, Fort Greely, the University of Alaska-Fairbanks, and all of the electric utilities in the Alaska Railbelt, extending from Homer to Fairbanks. Powering the Interior of Alaska, GVEA contributes to the economic, environmental, and social viability of our communities.

As part of a team, the Line Superintendent provides office and field supervision and support to the line crews working on the Association system. During the course of the day they provide field supervision in the construction, maintenance and operation of transmission and distribution lines. They work with members and office staff to resolve power quality issues and new service connects. Some other duties include coordinating and supplying necessary resources to respond to electrical system problems and working with contractors to aid in project completions.

QUALIFICATIONS FOR A LINE SUPERINTENDENT
Associate degree in electrical or related field or Completion of electrical apprenticeship and five years’ experience in line construction.
Familiarity with RUS standards and specifications, NESC, OSHA, and NEC.
Valid Alaska driver’s license.
State of Alaska Lineman Certificate of Fitness is preferred, or the ability to obtain within six months.
Three years construction supervisory experience is required.
Demonstrated desktop computing experience.

Do you have excellent interpersonal skills? Do you have demonstrated supervisory skills? Can you read system maps and diagrams for troubleshooting outages? Are you dependable and trustworthy? WORK SCHEDULE This position typically works Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Additional hours as required. On-call as needed after hours to include monthly master standby duties.
