Group Exercise Instructor PRN positions available.:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
1.Perform facility operation activities related to fitness services, housekeeping, youth activities, aquatics activities, and pools. Includes the following, but is not limited to membership relations and management, product sales and services, food services, point of sale activities, and coordination of services with other departments. a.Verbally cross promote all ATC classes and events.

b.Request substitute for classes in timely manner.

2.Participate in organizational goals, plans, programs, and objectives. (constantly)

3.Ensure sound fiscal management of resources for the Amarillo Town Club. (constantly)

a.Promote personal training and paid classes in conversations with members.

4.Support and maintain program services that integrate the operational goals, functions and processes of the Amarillo Town Club. (constantly)

5.Participate in comprehensive training of staff. Maintains an acceptable level of participation in educational activities for the development of skills necessary to perform job assignment. (constantly)

a.Maintain current certifications, CPR and participate in continuing education on an ongoing basis.

6.Maintain order, organization, and integration of the Amarillo Town Club’s operations, programs, functions, and processes. (constantly)

7.Communicate effectively, accurately and systematically with supervisor, peers, fellow employees, the membership population, and the public. (constantly)

8.Establish and maintain effective relationships with supervisor, peers, fellow employees, the membership population, and the public. Promotes teamwork and cooperative efforts with all staff members. (constantly)

a.Build lasting professional relationships whereby customers return for follow-up classes.

b.Work as a team member and foster team efforts with your supervisors, peers, and fellow employees.

c.Demonstrate a positive, friendly, caring, helpful, and open attitude to all customers

9.Maintain a safe work environment at the Amarillo Town Club and promotes safe work habits and promotes the highest level of customer service at all levels. (constantly)

a.Remove unsafe/broken equipment from fitness areas.

10.Ensures compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Promotes and adheres to the policies of the Amarillo Town Club and ATC Health Promotion Foundation. (constantly)

11.Exhibit authentic movement, mastery of technique, motivational coaching skills and valuable work ethic. (constantly)

a.Offer alternatives during classes to accommodate different levels of fitness.

12.Must be able to commit the time necessary from an attendance and punctuality standpoint in order to accomplish the above specified Essentials of Job. (constantly)

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION: High school education of GED is a minimum requirement. College education is preferred. A nationally recognized certification in a discipline related to fitness is desired. Approved certifications include but are not limited to the following:

?AFAA – Aerobics Fitness Association of America

?ACE – American Council on Exercise

?AEA – Aquatic Exercise Association

EXPERIENCE: Must have experience teaching fitness and/or aquatics classes. Should have work experience in a related exercise science field as well as working with different types of equipment.

SKILLS: Must be able to tolerate and demonstrate safe body mechanics, strong athletic movement, supreme coaching skills, and understanding of group fitness management, superlative communication and ability to deliver effective and inspiring feedback. Individual must be able to exercise good judgment and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential information related to membership and employee situations. Must have good written and verbal communication skills. Must possess good social skills and poise. Must display good follow-through skills.

PHYSICAL/SPECIAL DEMANDS:
1.Must bend, stoop, twist, turn, ascend/descend 22 stairs, and stand for periods of up to 2 hours.

2.Must be able to lift up to 70 lbs., move up to 315 lbs. with assistance, and position self to reach up to 7 ft.

3.Must be able to move about the facility 33-66% of an 8-hour workday.

4.Must be able to tolerate and demonstrate safe body mechanics including kneeling, stooping, crawling and twisting positions.

5.Must exhibit good organizational, numerical, alphabetical, reading and writing skills.

6.Must be able to problem solve and respond quickly and calmly in a stressful situations.

7.Must be able to hear to and/or respond to telephone, overhead intercom, employee and customer inquiries and in turn communicate effectively with employees and customers.

8.Visual acuity required to read reports, and for the monitoring of members/guest, including their operation and use of Amarillo Town Club equipment.

9.Cognitive skills required of reasoned interpretation of assessment and in all programs needs along with good coordination and fine motor skills in grasping, adjusting controls and typing on computers.
