R & D Lab Senior Technician
Job Purpose
Will work in Qualification Test lab for Pressure and load testing of Subsea & Surface products per specified industry standards
Execution of standard tests, maintenance activities, documentation, improvement projects independently and complex tests under supervision. Serves as a mentor to entry level technicians and helps to upgrade lab facilities under supervision. Good Product knowledge on at least one specific product line .Execution of standard Pressure and Temperature cycling tests per API 6A, API 17D. Pressures upto 30ksi, Temp Upto 350F.
Perform maintenance activities, improvement projects, facility enhancement and documentation with given team
Key Interactions
Reports to: Team Leader/EM
Internally: Research and Development team, Engineering, QHSES, Manufacturing, Maintenance, Procurement, Management
Externally: Suppliers, Customers
Main accountabilities(Be-Do- Have Skills)
Executes a variety of complex tests under supervision and independent execution of standard tests.
Adequate interaction skills with internal and external customers
Reviewing test procedures and ensuring that all tools and materials necessary to meet the schedules are on hand prior to the test start dates
Establishes the activity report, regularly maintains equipment, and ensures management of the store
Collects, records and maintains test data and other required IMS documentation
Executes Improvement projects and Facility Enhancement
Understands lean methodology and lean tools. Supports in lean implementation
Troubleshooting and improving the existing equipment
Mentoring entry level technicians
Works in accordance with health and safety procedures and proactively identifies hazards
Good Product knowledge on at least one specific product line.
Independently performs the Pressure/Load test setup.
Performs Hydrostatic and Gas tests independently.
Prepares and reviews the required work authorization forms(such as JSA, PTA, Work at height etc.)
Experience using various shopfloor tools for handling(Overhead crane/Pallets/Forklift), Assembly tools(Manual/Hydraulic/Pneumatic), & Operating equipment.
Job Scope
Works autonomously on standard tests and projects. Typically assists with training of less experienced technicians
Typical Profile
Diploma in Mechanical/Production Engineeringminimum 7 years of relevant experienceWorking knowledge of ISO and other applicable standards and guidelines
Must to have exposure/experience performing FAT(Factory Acceptance Tests), Hydrostatic tests, System integration testing or similar.
Previous Experience in Oil and Gas product pressure testing is preferable(Products – Valves, Metallic/Non Metallic Seals, Flanges/Connectors, Chokes etc)
80% Phyiscal work, 20% Documentation/communication etc
