Position Description Provides diagnostic and therapeutic programs for patients with speech, voice, oral-motor-pharyngeal, and language disorders. Provides in-service education on speech, voice and language disorders within the department and on the MCG campus. Participate in the teaching mission of MCG by supervision of speech pathology students from affiliating universities. Performs speech, voice, and language evaluations. Provides therapeutic programs for patients with a wide variety of speech, voice, language and oral-motor-pharyngeal disorders without assistance. Writes timely diagnostic reports, progress notes, discharge summaries and treatment plans. Maintains required Continuing Education units, safety training sessions and departmental in-services/staffing. Provides patient’, family, and nursing education as indicated. Maintains departmental productivity standards. Maintains work area in organized and neat manner. Meets the healthcare needs of patients within the framework of’ the therapeutic process of therapist and is consistent with his/her development and functioning. Recognizes and responds to needs and age-specific parameters of neonates, infants, children, adolescents, adults and older adults and basic needs of the medical/surgical patient; psychiatric patient.
Position Requirements Licensure by the Georgia Board of Examiners in Speech Pathology, Masters Degree. Must possess a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS certification.
