Summary
The Operations Manager provides supervision at the direction of management on site to coordinate activities of employees engaged in janitorial/housekeeping facilities, operations, or services at a health care establishment. The Operations Manager coordinates, at the direction of management, key functions.
**This is a permanent, non-rotational, position located in Juneau, Alaska. The successfully hired candidate will be living in or willing to relocate to Juneau, Alaska. **
Qualifications
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Serves as a working lead, coordinating activities of housekeepers engaged in cleaning and/or maintaining smaller/fewer complex facilities of commercial, health care facility.
Will be responsible for managing employees that are cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, moping, stairways, offices, food preparation or break areas, kitchen areas, medical offices or equipment, laundry rooms, living areas, work areas, off-site areas, common areas, restrooms, public areas, or other similar areas. Will also be responsible for completing and working these tasks as needed.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; managing and approving timesheets.
Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees by complying with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.
Responsible for the coordination of routine responsibilities of employees. Responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by on-site management.
Responsible for orientation and training of employees.
Performs day to day assignments in addition to lead duties.
Works with customers to ensure satisfaction in such areas as quality, service, and problem resolution.
Takes an interest and initiative in the development of the facilities team.
Participates in regular safety meetings, and safety trainings. Applies all applicable OSHA requirements to all assigned work. Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.
Adapts procedures, processes, tools, equipment, and techniques to meet the requirements of the position.
This position is responsible for the supervision of staff.
Other duties that are pertinent to the department or unit’s success also may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum one (1) year experience that evidences a working knowledge of cleaning equipment and general cleaning processes.
Must have medical office cleaning experience and knowledge.
Minimum one (1) year experience as a manager, managing 5 or more employees.
Basic skill set in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.
Must be fluent in speaking, reading, and writing English.
This contract requires all employees to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination. Individuals that are offered positions and are prevented from being vaccinated due to medical or religious reasons will work closely with Human Resources to evaluate their specific situations.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Weather: Environmentally controlled; requires most or all work to be done inside.

Noise level: The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Description of environment: Hospital setting. Pace of work is medium and high volume of customer interaction.

Physical requirements: Employee is required to frequently lift up to 50 lbs. This position is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands/fingers to handle or feel, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk/hear, see, taste/smell, and carry weight/lift.

Travel: This position requires travel up to 25% of the time. Employee may travel to other client units in town.
