Job Description :
Job Purpose:
To provide patient/family driven care, the PRN Registered Nurse, in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, will deliver treatment with an emphasis on assessment, education, prevention, maintenance, and restoration of health and when indicated end of life comfort care in a supportive and culturally sensitive manner.
Essential Functions:
Initiates IV’s, administers medications, and ensures patient comfort
Can assess, instruct, and prepare patients prior to surgery and prior to discharge
Monitors patients’ vital signs and other measurements of progress to meet discharge criteria
Has the ability to act quickly and safely in the event of an emergency
Demonstrates an aptitude for maintaining pace of abbreviated patient encounters, keeping patient flow to a minimum perioperative stay
Exhibits specialized knowledge, skill, and abilities in the fundamentals of perioperative nursing
Has the ability to clean, disinfect, and sterilize surgical instrumentation according to ANSI, AAMI, and APIC standards
Shows a strong respect for other co-workers
Demonstrates willingness to abide by the practice’s protocols, as well as state and federal regulations
Projects a positive and professional image
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Active, unrestricted nursing license in the state of Alaska
Graduated from an accredited school of nursing with a diploma, Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification & current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
Prior pre-operative, surgical, and/or PACU nursing experience
Knowledge of clinical competency in surgical patient care
Required Competencies
