Job Overview::

This position functions within Raven’s Way Treatment Program to oversee the safety, security and therapeutic environment of the residential facility and to provide for the physical and nutritional needs of the clients. This position’s oversight directly impacts the clients and the quality of care they receive.

This position coordinates the acquisition of all residential supplies and equipment that are necessary to provide for the physical safety and needs of the clients. Maintains all state, federal and industry mandated laws and standards related to the safe and professional operation of the residential facility. Must also accommodate and facilitate meeting the physical and dietary needs of the clients on an ongoing individual basis. This position coordinates and complies with the National School Lunch and Breakfast program. This position supports SEARHC’s vision statement: “To improve the health status of Native people in Southeast Alaska and other partners to the highest possible level,” by providing program clients with adequate facilities to improve their health status through the provision of drug free accommodations and nutrition.
Responsibilities::

This position is responsible for the retention of all facility related documentation for a duration of four years. This would include all Safety, Regulatory, and Inspection related documents that are created and maintained to document all required adherence and responsive actions taken to properly maintain the residential facilities. This includes adherence and implementation of all policies and procedures including those associated with Fire, Tsunami, Earthquake, Electrical, Bomb Threat, Violence and Biological emergencies and trainings.

Oversee and assure safe and secure day to day coordination of numerous residential facility functions and processes including: ongoing client centered habitation training in universal precautions, kitchen operation and sanitation, proper use of hazardous household chemicals, client chore scheduling, minor repairs, and the ordering and inventorying of all food orders. Coordinate building needs (repairs, replacements) with MEH Building Maintenance Supervisor, if unable to correct problem. Train and test all program staff in all emergency policies and procedures, record findings and implement quality improvement.

Continuous oversight and implementation of all state, federal and national laws, policies, procedures and standards for residential facilities and vehicles used in the transportation of clients. Prepare required documentation for state, federal and industry accreditation reviews. Comply and plan all requirements for the National School Lunch and Breakfast program

Assist treatment staff on a regular basis by monitoring client behavior and recording observations in clinical records when necessary. Present Living Skills curriculum to clients.
Qualifications::

Education/Experience

High School Diploma or equivalent.
3 years demonstrated work experience with either a human services program or a residential facility.
3 years work experience in quantity menu planning, quantity food preparation, sanitation, food storage, and housekeeping which must include one year related work experience in an adolescent or family residential facility.
2 years general office experience.
CPR and Emergency First Aid certification or an advanced emergency care certification (ex. EMT or Wilderness First Responder).

Other: Specify any desirable or additional qualifications
beyond
the baseline qualification requirements:

Valid State of Alaska Driver’s License.
Food Services Manager’s Certification or ability to attain within one year of hire.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge

Working knowledge of State and Federal regulations for food handling and facility safety
Advanced knowledge in basic life support, the degree to be determined by the responsibilities of the position.
Working Knowledge in the application and documentation of all State and Federal regulations pertaining to the management of residential treatment facilities as prescribed by the Joint Commission, DEC, and SEARHC Environmental Health.

Skills

Demonstrated superior skills in the oversight of all residential facility functions and processes including: ongoing client centered habilitation training in universal precautions, kitchen operation and sanitation, proper use of hazardous household chemicals, client chore scheduling, minor repairs, and the ordering and inventorying of all food orders.
Demonstrated superior skills in the recognition and immediate reporting of all building or appliance deficiencies in the residence.
Demonstrated superior skills in the oversight and implementation of all state, federal and national laws, policies, procedures and standards associated with the operation of residential treatment facilities. This includes demonstrated skills in the compilation and maintenance of all required documentation for state, federal and industry accreditation reviews.

Abilities

Advanced ability to use judgment and make decisions in an independent manner concerning the health and safety of the residential facility occupants.
Advanced ability to identify and report/correct facility problems/deficiencies. This includes the ability to effectively utilize national incident reporting software for all critical incidents that occur within the residential facility.
Advanced ability to interact with substance abuse clients in a nonjudgmental and respectful manner yet able to identify and report inappropriate, disruptive or unsafe client behaviors.
