Job Description :
Location: North Slope, AlaskaRESPONSIBILITIES: The Safety Professional supports the HS Team and serves as their representative. This position will:
Coach and influence area leadership’s decisions as they affect the health and safety culture.
Coach and influence area workforce performance as it affects health and safety issues.
Advocate compliance with regulatory and health and safety requirements.
Provide accurate safety statistical information and analysis of that information to the workforce.
Identify potential hazards and propose safe work practices to leadership teams.
Provide expertise on hazard identification and risk mitigation processes.
Provide effective health and safety communication throughout all levels of the workforce.
Work to ensure consistency of approach an application of health and safety programs across operations.
Ensure health and safety systems, policies, procedures and programs used to manage jobs are understood and are utilized by client and contract personnel.
Assist in the completion of H&S assurance audits and action closure activities.
Participate in the delivery of health and safety training programs.
Assist in conducting area safety meetings and HSSE committee meetings.
Conduct self in accordance with the safety professional’s code of conduct.
Conduct and participate in review, inspections and audits of contractors, their equipment and programs to ensure compliance with Regulatory requirements, as requested.
Assist workforce with accurate and timely incident notifications and with the development of effective actions, as necessary.
Within the operating area assist in, and facilitate, incident investigations utilizing the CLC process as appropriate.
Assist with incident management plan activities including implementation, training, response, and liaison with local first responders.
Provide or suggest interventions for H&S performance issues.
Provide applicable support to Emergency Services and Emergency Response.
Ensure client management is informed of HSE incidents in a timely manner.
Deliverables:
Field safety support for field work activities; including up front planning and Authorization to Proceed activities.
Perform formal and informal contractor worksite safety, health and environmental inspections.
Review incident and near miss reports and ensure that contractor management and contractor HSE representatives are aware of relevant lessons-learned information from these reports and safety bulletins.
Implement safety programs and efforts as directed by the H& S Manager through the client’s Safety Team Lead.
Work closely with contractor representatives and their workforce to ensure adherence to HSE plans and manage any HSE interface issues.
Experience & Knowledge: To be considered for the role applicants must have:
Legal authorization to work in the US on a full-time basis
A minimum of five years of experience working in a H & S site safety role with HSE oversight.
Strong experience in logistics and pre-job hazard analysis.
Experience in risk assessment, job safety analysis, incident investigations, permitting, atmospheric monitoring, root cause analysis.
Experience working with outside contractors.
Strong skills with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
Oil and gas industry experience.
Construction project experience.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST)/Construction Safety and Health Technologist (CHST) professional certifications.
A strong knowledge base of OSHA regulations and demonstrated application.
Demonstrate competency in core safety programs, including: Permit to Work; Energy Isolation; Ground Disturbance; Confined Space Entry; Working at heights; Lifting Operations; Driving Safety; Management of Change.
Working knowledge of Incident Command System.
Professional Safety Certifications strongly preferred.
