Job Description :
Diagnostic Laboratory Services, Inc. is actively recruiting for a Patient Service Representative who possess a general knowledge in medical billing and accounting software and programs. The ideal candidate will possess savvy, inter-personal and communication skills while providing solutions-focused service to our patients and clients.
POSITION DETAILS
Temporary-to-Hire Full-Time Position (temporary agency to hire)
Must be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 am – 4:30 pm
Must be flexible with schedule changes to meet operational needs.
JOB SUMMARY
In this role, you will respond to billing inquiries from our patients and clients. Performs billing reconciliation, and follows up on outstanding accounts billed to clients, patients, and insurance carriers in accordance to departmental procedures, standards and operational needs.
POSITION DETAILS
Responds to all patients and client inquiries via telephone, in writing or in person.
Collects payments from patients/clients and keeps accurate records of charges and receipts.
Updates patient/client accounts and rebills as appropriate
Generates, reviews and analyzes various reports and takes appropriate action including but not limited to the following:
Follows up on all outstanding client invoice balances for payment.
Reviews patient accounts, researches historical accounts and websites prior to rebilling or resending to outside collection agency.
Reports payments to collection agencies.
Performs activities related to billing reconciliation and analysis such as but not limited to:
Processes Insurance Front End Edits/remittance rejections for various insurance payors as assigned.
Correct errors from error processing report or other sources, as assigned and reports any new data or inconsistencies.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Alphanumeric keying: 96% accuracy at 7,000 key strokes per hour.
Preferred:
Experience with filing and/or processing medical insurance claims preferred.
One year of alpha and numeric data entry preferred.
SKILLS:
Ability to process and maintain high volume of work and multi-task assignments.
Ability to retain information and have good recall ability.
Excellent customer service skills.
Basic ability to operate personal computer and use business related software, preferably Windows, Word and Excel.
Able to operate general office equipment, such as copiers, facsimile machines, calculator, etc.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Well lighted, heated and/or air conditioned office setting with adequate ventilation.
Exposure to moderate noise levels common to a business office with computers and printers, and light traffic.
