Responsibilities:
Performs pre-purchase consultation, configuration, design, implementation and support duties in a complex, distributed, heterogeneous, computing environment that involves multiple types of peripherals, hardware platforms, operating systems and applications. Interprets and qualifies customer requests for technical assistance via telephone, electronic means and direct contact, generally serving as a point of contact for customer service requests for support. Maintains knowledge of enterprise hardware and application solutions used in customer locations in a medical environment in order to configure, price, order, upgrade, replace, test, troubleshoot, install, network and maintain these systems. Must support all forms of local and wide area network environments and have a good understanding of the different topologies and configurations to be able to assist in diagnosing, troubleshooting and correcting network and remote access problems. Takes actions based on skills and established procedures or coordinated efforts with others to effectively resolve communicated issues. Participates in long term project activity that may involve existing or new technology to be introduced and assimilated in the existing systems. Develops and maintains standard minimum system specifications for desktop hardware.
Qualifications:
Education
High School Diploma or GED required. Associate’s Degree in an Information Science related field preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
N/A
Experience
High School Diploma or GED with two (2) years of computer systems maintenance experience (to include configuration, troubleshooting, and problem resolution). Experience in a hospital setting is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to establish competency in establishing, diagnosing and correcting basic desktop configurations including but not limited to, set up of PC’s, change out of components, loading of OS and desktop related software, printers and basic peripherals and other devices defined by the skills and functions of an Information Systems Support Analyst.
Ability to analyze user requirements, install, modify, repair and maintain microcomputer hardware and software systems and provide advice, technical assistance and training to customers.
Ability to make logical decisions based on technical knowledge, repair experience and existing procedures and protocol.
Ability to handle problems and requests in a positive manner in conjunction with established processes and procedures.
Ability to work closely with others as a team. Ability to communicate ideas and techniques that may be different than those expressed by other team members in order to achieve a team goal.
Ability to react quickly to required changes in procedure, environment, tasking, etc. as may be encountered on a short or long term basis. Must be able to implement and coordinate such changes effectively.
Ability to interact with others in a positive manner, avoiding placing blame, and focusing on resolving the issue at hand to the satisfaction of the customer. Must be able to resolve issues with others in a neutral manner, quickly and effectively.
Ability to meet commitment dates as part of a planned service delivery effort. Ability to constantly reorganize those schedules and react proactively to changing priorities.
Ability to work alone and provide on-call support after hours, as a rotated responsibility.
Ability to work closely with customers, defining need and affecting resolution in a pleasant, positive and professional manner.
Physical Demands
Good physical condition. This position requires transportation and installation of equipment and materials weighing up to 60 pounds. May be called upon to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. May be called upon to hand-carry or drive supplies or equipment extended distances to provide customer support on campus and at remote facilities.
